The Effects of Aquatic Rehabilitation Exercise Program on Serum Lipids and Atherogenic Indices in the Disabled People with Spinal Cord Injury
Kim Duk-Jung

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the aquatic rehabilitation exercise program on serum lipids and atherogenic indices in the disabled people with spinal cord injury men. The relation of aquatic rehabilitation exercise and increase physical function was determined using an 12 week aquatic rehabilitation exercise intervention study involving 30 untrained subjects with disabled people with spinal cord injury men. Subjects were divided into two groups: control group (n=15), experiment group (n=15). Results of this study were as follows; In the serum lipids, experiment group were significantly decreased by the 12 week aquatic rehabilitation program in the total cholesterol, TG, and increased HDL-C. In the atherogenic indices, experiment group were significantly decreased by the 12 week aquatic rehabilitation program in the TC/HDL-C and TG/HDL-C. Therefore, this study supports the conclusion that continuous aquatic rehabilitation exercise participation is the one of most effective methods to maintain daily manual rehabilitation training propulsion avoiding the risk of lipids metabolism.
